At their beginning in 1965 The Gods were a London all-star band with keyboard wizard Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake (dr), who later became famous with Uriah Heep, plus Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones) on guitar. Even Greg Lake (b) of ELP was a short-time member. For the first studio LP, originally issued by Columbia Records in 1968, John Glascock (b) and Joe Konas (g) were on board. They played an impressively powerful and keyboard-driven late 60s psychedelic prog mixed with heavy rock. It is considered by some to be a prototype Uriah Heep album. The cover was designed by Hipgnosis. This hugely enjoyable album definitely deserves a place in every Progressive Rock collection. A planned third album was recorded under the pseudonym Head Machine, which later became the band Toe Fat.
