Leaf Hound emerged from the ashes of Black Cat Bones and Brunning Sunflower Blues Band, in which vocalist Peter French and his cousin guitarist Mick Halls had served their musical apprenticeship. The only album Growers Of Mushroom was recorded in 1970 in one eleven hour session at Spot Studios Mayfair in London. Initially released on the German Telefunken label in a small edition the same year, the even rarer British Decca version came out a year later with two more songs that were forgotten on the German version. By the time of the UK release, the band had already split up.
With confusing to no promotion, this gem of British heavy blues rock apparently lost in the haze of the era. And is now one of the most sought-after early UK Hard Rock records which achieves absolutely crazy prices.
