The German power trio Jeronimo from Frankfurt am Main, consisting of Michael Koch (g, voc), Gunnar Schäfer (b, voc) and Ringo Funk (dr, voc), recorded what has since become one of the most sought-after German albums among collectors: their second self-titled LP, featuring the iconic Indian cover designed by Helmut Wenske. After a few funny but also successful chart singles (still with their previous guitarist Rainer Marz), they had now developed a heavy guitar-driven boogie-blues and rock'n'roll sound. The album was released in autumn 1971 on Bellaphon, with the legendary Dieter Dierks as sound engineer and Gerhard Rieger as producer.
It is by far their best LP, showcasing enormous vitality and hard rock skills in straightforward songs. Qualities that also largely characterise their third and final album, Time Ride. The band subsequently split up in 1972. For reasons unknown, only a small number of copies of this highly sought-after self-titled album were ever pressed.
