The obscure short-lived German early prog band Andromeda from Cologne, not to be confused with the English power trio Andromeda, consisted essentially of the duo Peter Schild (org, p) and Günter Steinborn (dr). With the support of Tony Hendrik (g) and Gerry Fleming (b), both ex-members of The Tony Hendrik Five, they recorded their first and only album for the German Vogue label in 1970, produced by the legendary Conny Plank. They played an organ-heavy progressive hard rock that was dominated by the spacey, classically inspired keyboard playing of Peter Schild, who had a classical education. The exceptionally talented, jazzy drumming of Günter Steinborn gave the album a further special touch.
However, the LP, which was only released in Germany, failed without a trace and the duo disbanded shortly afterwards. Today a rather scarce and expensive rarity.
