Andromeda was a powerful and promising UK power trio at the end of the 60s. It was founded by the excellent guitar player Ian Du Cann in 1966. With Mick Hawksworth (b) and Ian McLane (dr) they released one eponymous album on the major label RCA in 1969 which contains guitar-driven heavy psychedelic/hard progressive rock. Although acclaimed by critics and lots of support from the well-known radio DJ John Peel, the album proved a commercial failure. Unfortunately, they disbanded shortly after the album was released. Du Cann left the band to form Atomic Rooster, along with Vincent Crane and Carl Palmer.
Today, their album is considered a „proto-heavy metal“ masterpiece and they could have become one of the most famous and successful bands in the heavy progressive rock genre. The original 1969 RCA LP is in high collectors demand and hence very rare.
