RECORDCOLLECTOR: The Most Beautiful Cover Art
The best album covers of all time in this vinyl LP museum, legendary record covers that really deserve the name „cover artwork“.
One of the legendary artists is Roger Dean, who is best known for his surreal landscapes that invite the viewer into other worlds. Like when we listen to music. A perfect symbiosis between visuals and acoustics. One criterion for the quality of his art is that it activates our imagination in such a way that we can immerse ourselves in another world. He also became so successful because his art perfectly captured the zeitgeist of the early 70s.
Martyn Dean, photographer, designer and brother of Roger Dean, also created artistic album covers with visionary images that enrich the listening experience.
Keith MacMillan, known by his stage name Keef, was primarily a photographer and designed some of the most unusual and impressive album covers in rock history. His atmospheric and at the same time bizarre designs, e.g. for Black Sabbath, Affinity and many more, are still outstanding examples of the perfect synergy between music and cover artwork.
The focus of English designer Rick Breach's creative work was in the early 70s and concentrated on obscure rock bands. In addition to cover designs for Black Widow and Killing Floor, he designed numerous record covers for the Vertigo label.
English graphic designer and painter Colin Fulcher, alias Barney Bubbles, alias Teenburger, also created a series of distinctive and artistic record covers that perfectly visualise the sometimes radical and anarchic music.
The design agency Hipgnosis created an icon and became famous for it: the cover for Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. Other legendary cover designs for Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Syd Barrett and many more impress with their unusual visual language and sheer boundless creativity.
