Revelation is the debut album by the German psychedelic rock band Virus, which originated from the Bielefeld area in North Rhine-Westphalia. They were one of the most popular bands in the region thanks to numerous gigs in the area. In 1970, they won first prize in a band competition held in the Vestlandhalle in Recklinghausen. This included recording an LP at Star Studio Hamburg with the support of legendary producer Conny Plank. The result was released in 1971 as the band's first album on the BASF record label. It contains long songs with mostly psychedelic rock jams with heavy keyboards and hard guitars. Flute solos give the sound some progressive elements, influences of space rock are reminiscent of Pink Floyd.
Unfortunately, this music was not successful and there were disputes within the group. Along with an extensive line-up change, the musical style also changed on the second LP Thoughts, which was released just months later. A minor psychedelic masterpiece for many krautrock collectors, their debut album, as an original BASF pressing, commands high sums of money today.
