German power trio with Holger Schmidt (g, voc), Klaus Meinhardt (b) and Karl-Heinz Traut (dr), founded in Frankfurt in 1972. In the same year, they recorded their first album for the progressive label Vertigo. Tiger Rock was recorded entirely live at Dierks Studios in Stommeln and produced by Dieter Dierks himself. Their debut album does not feature Krautrock, as was common at the time, but offers a raw and heavy hard rock with psychedelic and bluesy elements, based on a powerful, pounding bass, great guitar work and rough vocals. They recorded a second album in 1974 and then split up.
They were one of the few exceptions in the scene at the time, playing hard rock in the same league as Sir Lord Baltimore, Buffalo, The Stooges, Black Sabbath and many others. Today this Vertigo LP incl. poster, which was only released in Germany, is a sought-after collector's item.
