The R&B band Them, founded in Belfast in 1963 and known far beyond the borders of Ireland, underwent a complete musical transformation after singer Van Morrison left the band in 1966. They relocated their home base to Los Angeles, California, in the United States and became part of the psychedelic rock movement that was very popular there. With the line-up of Jim Armstrong (g), Kenny McDowell (voc), Allan Henderson (b) and Dave Harvey (dr), they recorded their second LP in 1968 at Gold Star Studios in L.A., produced by Ray Ruff. Featuring an attractive psychedelic cover design, the album was released in November 1968 by Tower Records, a subsidiary of Capitol Records. Almost all of the songs were written by an external songwriting duo (Tom Lane, Sharon Pulley). They played American-influenced psychedelic rock with lots of fuzz guitar, sitar and surreal lyrics. This album is widely regarded as their best work and has earned its status as one of the most sought-after collectibles from the Tower label.
