Already founded in 1967 the band The Old Man And The Sea quickly established itself on the Danish concert scene. They performed as supporting acts for Led Zeppelin, Ten Years After, among others. Nevertheless, the band broke up in the spring of 1969. However, Benny Stanley (g), Knud Lindhard (b) and Tommy Hansen (org, keyb) reunited to record their self-titled debut album. New additions to the line-up were singer Ole Wedel and drummer John Lundvig. They recorded their only LP at Ivar Rosenberg’s studio, produced by Freddy Hansson and the band. It was released in December 1972 by Sonet in a limited edition of just 500 copies.
One of the best albums from Denmark which became soon a cult record and incredibly rare! Easily comparable to the high-spirited double album of Junipher Greene. Hard rock with predominant guitar and heavy organ lead the instrumental solo sections, while rough English vocals add a bluesy feel to the sound.
