One of the best heavy progressive rock albums from faraway Iceland. And the only one by the four-piece band Svanfridur, recorded in London in 1972 and released in the same year. Pétr Kristjánsson (voc), Birgi Hrafnsson (g), Gunnar Hermannsson (b), Sigurd Karlsson (dr) with the support of guest musician and arranger Sigurdur Jónsson (p, synth, vi, fl) played hippiesque psychedelic rock with some folk elements and lyrics sung in English. The small edition of a few hundred copies was only available in Iceland and sold poorly. Completely unnoticed, it sank without a trace and led to the group disbanding in 1973.
This very rare gem of early progressive rock is considered one of the most interesting examples of heavy progressive rock mixed with influences from local folk music. And in great demand worldwide.
