Sameti was a band from Munich, formed in 1971 on the initiative of percussionist and singer Christian „Shrat“ Thiele after he left Amon Düül (later Amon Düül II). In April 1972, with the support of guest musicians Robert Eliscu (ob, fl) and Jürgen Benz (sax), they recorded their debut album at Bavaria Music Studios. The band members at the time of recording were Walter Bratengeier (g), Eckart Voggenreiter (b, g) and Klaus Götzner (dr). They offered a rather experimental approach that leaned towards cosmic Krautrock, but was based on bluesy hard rock with a few psychedelic and progressive influences provided by saxophone and flute.
The LP was released in December 1972 on the young label Brain Metronome with cover art by Edda Köchel, who also designed the nine art prints for the Faust album So Far. The release was unsuccessful. After several line-up changes and a second LP, the band finally broke up in 1974. Like so many Brain releases, this LP was only produced in a small edition and has since become a rare and expensive Krautrock rarity.
