A rare folk rock gem from Germany by the duo Ronnie di Tomaso (g, voc) and Theo Busch (vln, g, perc), who called themselves Rontheo, a combination of their first names. About a year after they met, they were offered the chance to record an album. They received access to the Breitkopf & Härtel Studio in Taunusstein, a fully equipped 24-track recording studio, which explains the outstanding sound quality. With the support of guitarist Yedz and composer Peter Mühlbauer, who wrote the vocal arrangements and was also the producer, they recorded their self-titled album in 1976. Thanks to Canadian Ronnie di Tomaso, they sounded more like an American folk rock band with no connection to the local Krautrock scene. Melodic folk rock with subtly accentuated acoustic guitars, instrumental passages with violin solos and driving guitar riffs, as well as soulful vocals (in English) give the album its unique and special character.
It was released in 1976 on the small, unknown label Breitkopf Song with an artistically designed cover in a limited edition of only 1,000 copies. Their first and only album is now considered one of the most beautiful folk rock albums of that era and fetches horrendous sums among collectors.
