The Rockband Mammut from the Nuremberg area in Bavaria, was a short-lived band led by guitarist, singer and sound engineer Lothar Schrems. The other band members were guitarist Ron Auerochs, bassist and singer Fred Henning, and drummer and singer Thomas Prüfer. Schrems established contact with Peter Klimek’s legendary Brutkasten label, with whom they signed a record deal. At the label’s in-house Tonstudio Brutkasten, they recorded their first and only album between September and November 1979, with Peter Klimek as producer and with the support of sound engineer Alan Smith. It was released that same year, featuring a humorous front cover illustration by the artist Ortwin Michl.

The quartet played a straightforward and enjoyable style of hard rock with dual lead guitars, incorporating elements of rock ’n’ roll and blues, which for the most part sounds thoroughly professional. However, with a tiny print run of just 500 copies of their debut album, failure was inevitable. After a few live performances in the region, the rock band split up in early 1980. Released exclusively in Germany and never reissued, this album ranks as one of the rarest releases from the sought-after Brutkasten label, alongside Carol Of Harvest, Vivat Progressio Pereat Mundus by P2O5 and Black Spirit.
