The Rockband Mammut from the Nuremberg area, was a short-lived group led by guitarist, singer and sound engineer Lothar Schrems. The other band members were guitarist Ron Auerochs, bassist and singer Fred Henning, and drummer and singer Thomas Prüfer. Schrems established contact with Peter Klimek’s legendary Brutkasten label, with whom they signed a record deal. From September to November 1979, they recorded their first and only album at the label’s in-house Tonstudio Brutkasten, which was released later that same year.
They played an enjoyable style of hard rock featuring dual lead guitars blended with elements of rock’n’roll and blues, which for the majority of the album sounds thoroughly professional. With a tiny print run of just 500 copies of their debut album, failure was inevitable. After a few live performances, the Rockband split up in early 1980. Released exclusively in Germany and never reissued, this album ranks as one of the rarest releases from the highly sought-after Brutkasten label.
