Prof. Wolfff was one the first rock bands with German lyrics. Klaus-Peter Schweitzer (g, p, voc), Romi Schickle (org), Mondo Zech (b), Michael Sametinger (dr), Friedrich Herrmann (g, voc, harm) from Ulm founded the group in 1971. After a lot of touring and a television appearance they recorded their self-titled debut album in October 1971, produced by Jonas Porst (Ihre Kinder). They disbanded the following March, even before the release of their Metronome album in May 1972. The album shows five long self-penned tracks with partly political provoking German lyrics about everyday problems, accompanied by heavy progressive rock with a mix of folk, jazz and psych components. Without any publicity for the record, the release went completely unnoticed and ended up in the cheap bins.
Today, however, the only album by this short-lived band is a globally sought-after krautrock rarity.
