The album Brustna Illusioner (Broken Illusions) by Prefix is one of the rarest and indeed strangest records ever to come out of Scandinavia. Prefix was less a band than a solo project by the Swedish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Blom, founded in 1970. Accompanied by his future wife Ingrid Blom (vocals, guitar, percussion) and his friend and singer Åke Eriksson, he recorded his first and only LP at home in Vingåker between December 1973 and July 1974, with an 8-track recorder and a homemade mixing desk. He also played almost all the instruments himself, did most of the vocals in English and Swedish, and was responsible for the entire production.

This homemade, underground private pressing contains a varied mix of piano ballads with unusual melodies and subtle psychedelic elements, as well as acid folk and heavy fuzz guitar passages. Due to technical shortcomings, the production comes across rather amateurish and unpolished, but this also lends it a certain charm. Released in 1974 on his own record label PIM, the LP was pressed only 100 copies and has not been reissued to this day. It remains the only work by this unknown trio. One of the great vinyl rarities, especially for fans of psychedelic folk and folk rock.
