Like the Beatles, Pinnacle came from Liverpool. Unlike the Fab Four, they played a dark mix of aggressive progressive hard rock and psychedelic space rock. In 1974, they entered the small Abbot Sound Studios in Chester with the following line-up: Owen McCann (voc), Paul Thomas (g), Alan Lawrence (b), Neil McKenna (dr) and Dave Mylett (organ, Moog), who later joined the original quartet. There, within three days, they recorded their first and only album, Assasin, which was released in the UK by the small, short-lived Liverpool label Stag Music in a limited edition of 1,000 copies. After various live gigs until the spring of 1975 and the recording of four new songs in a live demo, the band split up due to lack of success. Incidentally, the incorrect spelling of „Assassin“ on the album cover is a misprint that was left as it was by the record label. Today, the album enjoys a reputation as another forgotten masterpiece of heavy music and has become a sought-after collector's item.
