Pink Floyd's second album and the first record after Syd Barrett's departure. David Gilmour now took his place on guitar. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London in August & October 1967/January – April 1968, it features psychedelic rock with expansive and experimental songs. It was released in England in June 1968 as a mono and stereo version in a flip-back sleeve labelled „File Under Popular“ on the top right of the back cover.
The stereo version with label titles and credits printed on two lines for tracks A4 and B3 is much rarer than the version with titles and credits printed on one line for tracks A4 and B3. Horrendous sums are now being paid for this rare English first pressing by one of the most famous rock bands in music history.
