The London heavy psych band Pink Fairies was founded in 1969 by former musicians of The DeviantsPaul Rudolph (g, voc), Duncan Sanderson (b), Russell Hunter (dr) and Twink (dr, voc). They were active in the underground and psychedelic scene of the early seventies, promoting free music and often gave improvised performances at free festivals. Polydor Records became aware of the group and offered them a record deal for an album. The band recorded their debut album at Command Studios in Piccadilly, London and was released by Polydor in 1971. They played hard rock with psychedelic influences, proto-punk, spacerock and some psychedelic ballads, always with Paul Rudolph's great guitar playing in the foreground. However, Twink left the band after the album was released.
One of the most important debuts of the early 70s as a UK original with its beautiful and smart gimmick cover is very rare and expensive today.
