The Italian band was founded in Genoa/Liguria in 1969, from 1970 onwards they called themselves Nuova Idea. After numerous live gigs, the release of their first LP and a brilliant performance at the first Pop Festival in Viareggio, parts of which were documented on a compilation LP, guitarist Antonello Gabelli joined the band, replacing Marco Zoccheddu. The other members were Giorgio Usai (organ, Mellotron, Moog, piano, harpsichord, vocals), Claudio Ghiglino (guitar, vocals), Enrico Casagni (bass, vocals) and Paolo Siani (drums, percussion, vocals). With this line-up, they recorded their second LP Mr. E. Jones at Ariston Studios in Milan in the summer of 1972.

It was released in the same year with an unconventional cover design by the Italian illustrator Gianni Zanini on the small label Ariston Progressive, exclusively in Italy. On this concept album, which depicts a day in the life of an ordinary employee, they played a keyboard- and guitar-dominated progressive art rock with polyphonic vocals. The songs range from heavy rock guitar riffs to sophisticated instrumental passages with symphonic keyboards to some jazz elements and ballads with soft piano. They released one further album before disbanding in 1973. As a classic of Italian progressive rock, the original LP is now a rare collector’s item.
