The Italian band was founded in Genoa in 1969, from 1970 onwards they called themselves Nuova Idea. After numerous live gigs and a first LP release, guitarist Antonello Gabelli replaced Marco Zoccheddu (g). The other members were Giorgio Usai (keyb, voc), Claudio Ghiglino (g, voc), Enrico Casagni (b, fl, voc) and Paolo Siani (dr, perc, voc). With this line-up, they recorded their second LP Mr E. Jones at the Ariston Studio in Milan in the summer of 1972. It was released that same year on the small Ariston Progressive label. On this concept album, which depicts a day in the life of an employee, they played progressive art rock dominated by keyboards and guitars with polyphonic vocals. The songs range from heavy rock guitars to complex instrumental segments with symphonic keyboards to some jazz elements and ballads with soft piano. They released one more album and then disbanded in 1973.
A classic of Italian progressive rock, the original LP is now a rare collector's item.
