A real treasure! This early Krautrock album containing a heavy and raw progressive sound tainted with psychedelic elements engineered by the legendary Konrad „Conny“ Plank. At the time of recording at Cologne’s Rhenus Studio, with Tony Hendrik as producer, the band Nosferatu consisted of Michael Thierfelder (voc), Michael Meixner (g), Reinhard Grohe (org), Christian Felke (sax, fl), Michael Kessler (b) and Byally Braumann (dr). The album, released in the same year with a cover design by Jack Kipp, features excellent flute work and percussion, dominated by guitar, organ and saxophone.
In spite the obvious Anglo-American influence, the group manages to create a unique sound. This is due to some unusual riffs and rhythms, as well as the interplay between the saxophone and flute alongside the organ. The few original pressings on Vogue, the band’s only release, are simply impossible to find nowadays in excellent or even better condition.
