Necronomicon from Aachen was founded in the summer of 1970. After years as a cover band like Sabbath, Purple, Hendrix they wanted to set up something of their own. The result was the concept album Tips zum Selbstmord, recorded in a small studio within five days and self-published in 1972. They created a really underground heavy prog and psychedelic hard-rock sound with German politically agitative lyrics.
Only 500 copies were privately pressed by the band. The cover was elaborately made. It consists of six square surfaces that can be unfolded to form a cross. Original copies of this krautrock holy grail are impossible to find. It is for sure one of the most desirable and sought after German albums ever.
