The trio Mythos was formed in 1969 in the Berlin underground scene under the direction of multi-instrumentalist and singer Stephan Kaske (fl, keyb, voc, g, sit) together with Harald Weisse (b, g) and Thomas Hildebrand (dr, perc). Many concerts later, they performed extremely successfully at the legendary Langelsheim Festival in May 1971. This attracted the attention of talent scouts from various record companies. Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser and his legendary Berlin Ohr label signed the band. The self-titled debut album released in 1972 was produced by Dieter Dierks and the freaky cover was designed by Berlin artist Gil Funccius. In four partly long instrumental pieces, they played a mixture of art rock and psychedelic with classical adaptations, space rock with oriental influences, acid rock with heavy rock guitars, mostly accompanied by effects and cosmic sounds.
This first LP by Mythos is now sought after by collectors worldwide as a cherished Krautrock classic.
