Founded in Rüsselsheim (near Frankfurt) in 1968, My Solid Ground toured a lot in their home region and played hard rock, enriched with psychedelic sounds. After winning the second prize in a nationwide band competition organised by Südwestfunk (SWF), they get a record contract by Bacillus Records, a sub-label of Bellaphon. The band leader, guitarist and singer Bernhard Rendel, bassist and singer Karl-Heinrich Dörfler and drummer Andreas Würsching recorded their only album in February and April 1971, with the support of keyboardist Ingo Werner, who had already left and rejoined the band on several occasions.

Produced by Peter Hauke and recorded at the legendary Dierks Studio in Cologne-Stommeln with Dieter Dierks as sound engineer, the self-titled debut album was released the following October and even achieved nationwide success. With their heavy psych-rock enriched with cosmic and spacey effects they performed numerous successful live shows the following year. Despite several television appearances and further studio recordings of their own tracks for a planned second LP, the band disbanded in 1972 following a complete line-up change.
