After some promising early years and a psychedelic classic as their debut album, band leader Mecki Bodemark nevertheless disbanded the psychedelic/jazz rock band Mecki Mark Men in 1968 to pursue other musical projects. Since their first LP was also released in the USA and enjoyed some success there, the US record company Limelight, a sub-label of Mercury, suddenly made an offer for a second LP. At the beginning of 1969, it was recorded in Sweden with a new line-up and released in the same year, but only in the USA. To promote the album, the band, consisting of Mecki Bodemark (org, keyb, mell, voc), Kenny Hakansson (g), Bella Fehrlin (b) and Pelle Ekman (dr), embarked on a US tour in the spring of 1970. They played at rock festivals, including as headliners alongside The Byrds, Grand Funk Railroad and Jethro Tull.
Meanwhile, they recorded their third album, Marathon, at the legendary Chess Studios in Chicago, which again offered a mix of heavy psychedelic rock with wild organ and guitar escapades and acoustic pieces with flute and sitar. However, it was not released until early 1971, and only in Sweden by Sonet. The American record company had lost interest in the Swedes in the second half of 1970. All efforts to make them known there were unfortunately in vain. The group disbanded in 1971.
