Guy McDonald (g, keyb, voc) and his close friend Stan Sherby (g, voc) both hail from Minneapolis. They were able to present their musical ideas of a kind of progressive hard rock, sometimes together with local bands, in McDonald's father's nightclub. Over the years, they gained a strong local following and also the attention of major record companies. In 1970, they went into Minneapolis Sound 80 Studios and recorded six songs with four backing musicians. They played excellent heavy acid rock with progressive elements and impressive heavy fuzz guitars. Gentle passages alternate with psychedelic hard rock songs. As they never landed a record deal, Guy decided to have a limited number of LPs pressed for the family and local supporters. Their only album, Catharsis, was not released until 1974 on the Omniscient Records label, which was founded especially for this purpose.
This ultra-rare private pressing is now regarded as one of the best guitar-driven heavy psychedelic prog rock albums from 1974. And one of the rarest too!
