The Krohn + Micus LP is an extremely rare item and one of the long-lost classics of German folk music. In the early 1970s, the paths of Munich-based guitarist, flautist and singer Hans-Peter Krohn and multi-instrumentalist and singer Stephan Micus, originally from Stuttgart, crossed in the Bavarian capital. Krohn was a member of the short-lived blues-rock band Pentagon, which released one single and of whose first LP only an acetate copy exists. Micus was interested in traditional instruments from different parts of the world, which he travelled to in order to learn about and play them. With this background, the two worked together on a collection of songs with a view to recording an album. In 1972, the time had come: their debut was released on the obscure Munich-based label Blues And Underground, run by Peter Gleissner.
This entertaining and extraordinary German folk album features traditional folk with English vocals, complemented by some experimental elements and subtle raga influences. For cost reasons, the cover was kept simple in white featuring only a small hand-made imprint. The few test pressings contain an autograph from the label owner, Peter Gleissner, on the back cover. To this day no reissue has been released on CD or vinyl. Since only 100 copies were produced in 1972, including test pressings, the originals are now, without exception, in the hands of collectors and impossible to find.
