The third LP by the former blues and folk singer Alvaro „Jumbo“ Fella from Milan and his band, which took its name from his nickname. Alongside the multi-instrumentalist Fella (piano, organ, saxophones, vocals), the band consisted of Sergio Conte (keyboards), Dario Guidotti (guitar, flute, harmonica, vocals), Daniele Bianchini (guitar), Aldo Gargano (glockenspiel, bass, Mellotron) and Tullio Granatello (drums, timpani). With the participation of five guest musicians, they recorded the album Vietato Ai Minori Di 18 Anni? at Phonogram Studios in Milan, which was released in 1973 by the major label Philips exclusively in Italy.
Largely free from British influences, it is generally regarded as their best and highest-rated album. Using a wide variety of instruments, they played high-energy symphonic prog rock in complex song structures as well as extended spacey and psychedelic passages with elements of folk, world music and jazz. As the title already indicates, on their most ambitious work they used controversial themes, such as homosexuality, masturbation, prostitution, alcoholism and drug addiction. This certainly had negative consequences for the band, whose album was banned not only by radio stations but also by some record shops. The original Italian edition of this famous third LP by Jumbo, featuring a colourful gatefold cover and the lyrics printed on the pink inner sleeve, is extremely rare, especially as a promo, and highly sought-after worldwide.
