Julian Jay Savarin is a poet, author and musician – a multi-talented artist who has put his diverse skills to good use in a wide range of projects. Following the end of his band project Julian’s Treatment, he served as bandleader and principal songwriter for his solo album, which is based on the first book of his science fiction trilogy „Lemmus: A Time Trilogy 1 – Waiters On The Dance”. The musicians involved in the recordings alongside Savarin on keyboards, included singer Jo Meek (sister of Anna Meek of Catapilla), guitarist Nigel Jenkins, bassist John Dover and Roger Odell on drums. Miki Dallon once again handled production duties for the recordings, which took place at Pye Studios and De Lane Lea Studios. His debut album was released in March 1973 on the tiny label Birth and offers a varied mix of symphonic prog and heavier psychedelic rock, plus the captivating vocals of Jo Meek.
However, only 600 copies were pressed and it sold virtually nothing, prompting Savarin to return to his focus on writing further books. Due to their scarcity, the original vinyl editions have become sought-after rarities. Alex Gitlin’s review illustrates this: „Like many of you, I had never heard of this album before and felt entirely blown away by its impact. I am sure you will be too, and then you will wonder why you had not heard of this sooner. As the saying goes: better late than never, grab it now!
