Solitude Within, released in 1975, was the second album by American guitarist and singer Jeff Liberman from Chicago. Like his self-titled debut LP, he released it as a private pressing on his own label, Librah. It was recorded in just a few hours at PS Recording Studio in Chicago and produced by Paul Serrano. With the support of his bandmates Thomas (drums, percussion), Philip (bass) and Dan Lomas (synthesizer, bass, guitar, keyboards), he primarily presented blues-influenced heavy psychedelic guitar rock with numerous solos, saturated with dynamic fuzz effects. He expanded his guitar playing with vocals, various jazz elements and some quiet, gentle folk grooves, as well as occasional experimental excursions.
After his third unsuccessful self-released album, he retired from the music business. All three rare LPs were among the first private US pressings to gain recognition among psychedelic collectors ten years later. Solitude Within is generally considered his best album and is accordingly the most sought-after.
