Legendary French painter and sculptor Jean Dubuffet began making music in the early 60s. He experimented with a range of sometimes unusual instruments like saxophone, bassoon, detuned piano, hurdy-gurdy, cabrette, bombarde etc. The result of these musical experiments was a box with six 10 inch LPs in an edition of fifty copies with original artwork and lithographed sleeves. The 1973 album Musical Experiences is a compilation of 8 well-chosen tracks from this box-set. Not as incredibly rare as the box, this compilation is nevertheless a globally sought-after artefact of a unique musical expression.
