The Norwegian hard prog band Høst (= Autumn) from the Knapstad area south of Oslo was formed in 1971. Constant line-up changes were accompanied by numerous local live performances, which led to their first record deal. In October 1974, they recorded their debut album at Arctic Studios in Trondheim, produced by Nils Bjarne Kvam, who also acted as sound engineer alongside Rune Nordal. This first LP, entitled På Sterke Vinger (= On Strong Wings), still impresses today with its melodic progressive hard rock, driven by two lead guitars alongside a variety of keyboards such as the Clavinet and Mini-Moog, a tight rhythmic foundation and the powerful vocals of singer Geir Morgan with poetic Norwegian lyrics.

The other band members were: guitarist Lasse Nilsen, bassist Bernt Bodahl, drummer and vocalist Knut Ragnar Lie and multi-instrumentalist Svein Rønning (guitar, Clavinet, organ, Moog synthesiser, piano, vocals). But the album, released in December of the same year with a grainy cover artwork on the small Norwegian label On Records and available only in Norway, went completely unnoticed. Following a second LP in 1976, the band members went their separate ways. The Norwegian-language album, which combines hard rock and prog with impressive results, is difficult to find these days and is therefore on every hard rock and heavy metal fan's want lists.
