The Norwegian band Høst (= Autumn) from the Knapstad area south of Oslo was formed in 1971. Constant line-up changes were accompanied by numerous local live performances until they recorded their debut album at Arctic Studios in Trondheim in October 1974. This first LP, entitled På Sterke Vinger (= On Strong Wings), still impresses today with its melodic progressive hard rock, led by two lead guitars with a variety of keyboards such as clavinet and mini-moog, a compact rhythm section and the powerful vocals of singer Geir Morgan with Norwegian lyrics. The other band members were: Lasse Nilsen (g), Svein Rønning (g, piano, organ, moog, flute, vocals), Bernt Bodahl (b) and Knut Ragnar Lieg (dr, vocals).
But the album, which was released with a grainy cover artwork on the small Norwegian label On Records in December of that year, went completely unnoticed. After a second LP in 1976, the band members went their separate ways. The Norwegian-language album, which combines hard rock and prog with impressive results, is difficult to find these days and is therefore on every hard rock and heavy metal fan's want lists.
