Hand was a group of Swiss teenagers formed in 1972 in Lausanne by the Uruguay-born singer and guitarist Marc Osborne and the two guitarists Tony Angier and Jean-Jacques Gauer. They were still in school when they were given the opportunity to record a full album (much like the German trio Ainigma or Plebb from Sweden). At the time of the recordings in the in-house studio of the Swiss label Evasion Disques in Biel/Bienne, the group included the following additional young musicians: Nick Zoullas (harmonica), Sergio Franzi (bass, guitar), Theresa Berens (vocals), Frank-Oliver Hay (piano, organ) plus four guest musicians. Their first and only LP Everybody’s Own was released in the same year in an initial run of just 500 copies, exclusively in Switzerland.

The septet were masterful at blending the characteristic British folk style of artists like Nick Drake, Pentangle and Fairport Convention with psychedelic elements of American country rock. Thanks to a brilliant studio production, the predominantly acoustic instrumentation with English vocals nevertheless sounds quite „rock-oriented“. The compositional and musical talent of the three band founders – Osborne, Angier and Gauer, who wrote all the tracks on the album – is impressive. This timeless psychedelic folk album, created during the British folk revival, made no impression at the time but now enjoys cult status. This, combined with its extremely limited and long-out-of-print pressing, makes it a extremely rare and desirable rarity.
