Hairy Chapter was a German blues-rock band from Bonn that formed in the late 1960s. It consisted of Harry Unte (voc, g), Harry Titlbach (g), Rudolf Oldenburg (b) and Rudi Haubold (dr). After their debut album, which was released on the tiny budget label OPP, and a few concerts in the Bonn area, they signed a recording contract with the then newly founded label Bacillus Records. Once again, the legendary producer Dieter Dierks was at their side. They recorded their second album Can't Get Through in his studio in Stommeln in November 1970 and January 1971. In addition to Rudi Haubold, who only plays drums on the opening track, Werner Faus was added as a second drummer. Other guests were Ulrich Hübinger (harp, perc) and the trumpeter Heinz Schachtner. The result was a hard, psychedelic rock with heavy guitars, overdriven bass, harsh drumming and desperate vocals, more progressive and less bluesy than their debut album.
Unfortunately, this second album was also their last, as they split up shortly after its release. In its wild rawness, it ranks alongside Sir Lord Baltimore's „Kingdom Come“ as one of the most important proto-metal albums and is highly regarded by many critics. First pressings with the white Bacillus label command high sums today.
