Gravy Train was a progressive rock group from Lancashire in England. Founded by singer and guitarist Norman Barrett they were active from 1969 to 1975. Together with J. D. Hughes (sax, fl, keyb, voc), Les Williams (b, voc) and Barry Davenport (dr) they recorded their eponymous first album for the great Philips/Phonogram subsidiary Vertigo in 1970. It is without a doubt high quality psychedelic blues rock with heavy guitars, flute and sax and a few keyboards. Like their second album Ballad Of A Peaceful Man it is now a hard to find collector's item today.
