Frame Of Mind was the first and only LP by the short-lived German band Frame from Marburg in Hesse. The band comprised the talented musicians Dieter Becker (lead vocals, percussion), guitarist, singer and pianist Andy Kirnberger, who almost simultaneously played as a guest musician on Pell Mell’s first LP Marburg in 1972, Cherry Hochdörffer (organ, piano, mellotron, spinet), Peter Lotz (bass, vocals, percussion) and Wolfgang Claus (drums, percussion). The recordings for their debut album took place in March 1972 at the legendary Dierks Studios, produced by label owner Peter Hauke.

Their debut album, featuring eight original compositions, was released in 1972 on Bacillus Records and showcases five musicians of an exceptionally high standard, playing a varied, organ-dominated style of heavy progressive rock with powerful guitar riffs, enriched with experimental elements drawn from blues, folk, symphonic music and jazz-rock. The versatile vocals with English lyrics underline the British influence on the group’s sound – reminiscent of bands such as Cressida, Quatermass, Spring or Beggars Opera – though it is somewhat harder in tone due to more intense guitar work. However, they failed to achieve commercial success, and the quintet soon went their separate ways. Their sole album, which was released only in Germany, is now rare and expensive and enjoys an excellent reputation not only among prog fans.
