In contrast to their debut album, the folk duo Emtidi, consisting of Maik Hirschfeldt (g, fl, keyb, voc) and Dolly Holmes (voc, keyb), significantly expanded their instrumentation and style, and from then on played a unique mixture of folk, cosmic electronica and psychedelic music. In addition to the new possibilities offered by multi-track recording, the legendary producer Dieter Dierks played a major role in this development, contributing significantly as a third musician. In addition to the acoustic guitar, the sound is dominated by synthesizers, mellotron and other keyboard instruments.
Through the skillful fusion of traditional folk with avant-garde electronic elements, a new musical style was born: Cosmic Folk. This was captured on vinyl in 1972 and released as their second and last album, Saat, on the cult label Pilz, produced by Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser. Dreamy, beautiful melodies and Dolly Holmes' high, ethereal voice are carried over gently floating acoustic guitar and keyboard passages. An impressive example of how traditional music can be enriched and transformed by modern technology and creative visions. The duo soon parted ways, with Dolly Holmes returning to her native Canada.
What remains is a timeless classic (for many, even an underrated masterpiece), which is also extremely rare today as a German original on Pilz.
