This often overlooked Austrian band epitomizes the whole Austrian progressive movement. Eela Craig was founded in early 1970 in Linz, Austria, by keyboard wizard Hubert Bognermayr and Harald Zuschader (keyb, fl, g). The other members were Hubert Schnauer (keyb, fl), Fritz Riedelberger (g, p, voc), Gerhard Englisch (b, perc) and Frank Hueber (dr, perc). They performed an independent mixture of pure progressive rock, psychedelic, classical music, electronics, jazz and blues with high artistic standards, what their self-titled debut skillfully demonstrates. This eponymous first album released on the little-bitty Austrian Pro Disc label in 1971.
Only 1.500 copies of this masterpiece were made, which are vanished completely into private collections.
