Klaus Doldinger was one of Germany's leading jazz musicians. He studied piano and saxophone and founded the psychedelic fusion band Motherhood in 1969. The band consisted of outstanding and highly regarded musicians who all went on to have spectacular careers: the sought-after drummer Keith Forsey (voc), bassist Lothar Meid, Paul Vincent on electric guitar, and Udo Lindenberg (dr, voc), one of the most famous German rock musicians. In 1970, the second and last album was recorded for the Liberty label and presented a colourful mix of psychedelic, fusion, jazz and Krautrock with English vocals. The self-titled LP was innovative, experimental and genre-defining. With it, Klaus Doldinger, who played tenor, alto and soprano saxophone as well as clarinet, piano and organ, laid the foundation for his subsequent career with Passport. Today, it enjoys legendary status and is extremely sought-after as an original German pressing in its excellent vinyl quality.
