Da Capo a guitar-driven progressive rock group with clear West Coast influences came from Fürth in Bavaria. The band consisted of the two guitarists and singers Peter Stanek and Peter Treiber, the bassist and singer Peter Wiesner, and the drummer Alfred Urban. They recorded and produced their sole album on a two-track tape machine in a small studio 1972. It contains seven excellent tracks, including a live recording, with two lead guitars in the style of Quicksilver Messenger Service.

The limited edition of 500 copies, released on their own private label California, came out that same year and was initially sold at the band’s concerts for 20 DM (€ 10) each. Since this was not very successful, further copies were offered for 3 DM (1.50 €) at flea markets in Nuremberg and surrounding. Some were given away among friends. Annoyed, they finally threw the remaining half of the edition into the garbage. This sad story together with the high musical quality are the reasons why this private pressing is now one of the most wanted German rock LPs from the early 1970s, next to the debut albums by Can and Tyburn Tall.
