Australian-born singer and guitarist John Thomas, who called himself „Creepy John Thomas“ after moving to London, settled in Germany in the late 1960s. Brother Bat Bone was the second release under his name, published by Telefunken in 1970. His fellow musicians were the two Germans Andy Marx (guitarist, later with Doldinger's Passport) and Helmut Pohl (drummer with Gomorrha), with whom he performed first-class, powerful, sometimes psychedelic blues rock and boogie. His expressive voice and distorted guitars give the heavy blues/boogie an almost hypnotic effect. Curiously, Brother Bat Bone was released in a small edition only in Germany.
Unfortunately, it went completely unnoticed. The band split up and John Thomas went on to play with the Edgar Broughton Band. Today, however, this very rare heavy blues rock gem is a collector's item sought after worldwide.
