The Florence-based band Campo Di Marte, founded in 1971 by guitarist Enrico Rosa and drummer and flautist Mauro Sarti, recorded their only, self-titled album at Milano Studio in January 1973, which was released a few months later on the major label United Artists. Bassist Richard Ursillo, keyboardist and French horn player Alfredo Barducci and Carlo Felice Marcovecchio on drums completed the five-piece line-up. With a large number of instruments it is one of the most varied works of Italian prog.

The musical palette of all the tracks composed by Enrico Rosa ranges from majestic classical-style piano passages through bombastic organ and Mellotron sequences to hard-rocking guitar sounds. This is joined by varied flute playing, which, together with broad mellotron pads, creates a wonderful romantic mood. Contrasts are formed by mystical key runs next to weird guitar rock, which together with a French horn and spirited flute playing create an impressive mood. Due to the complete lack of promotion by the record company, the album did not sell at all and the band disappeared. Very rare LP, especially with the elusive lyric inner.
