In the very same year following the release of his first album Baba Yaga Featuring Ingo Werner (1974), the talented keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Ingo Werner was already working on his second LP, although the two albums differ drastically from one another. While on his debut album he was the frontman of a five-piece progressive rock band, here he worked as a duo with the renowned percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Nemat Darman, a musician from Iran living in Germany. Darman contributed to this little masterpiece with a wide array of instruments: drums, sitar, santur, tablas, congas, cymbals, gongs, timpani and vibraphone.

Recorded once again at Dieter Dierks studio and produced by Werner, the result is a compelling, atmospheric soundscape of improvisations evoking both Eastern and Western influences, alongside original, spacey experiments. The two tracks, each spanning an entire side of the record, were co-composed by Werner and Daman. This extraordinary album, which lives up to its title Collage and blends Persian, jazzy and electronic elements, as well as some prog elements, through heavy use of synthesisers, string acrobatics and percussion, was released like the first LP in 1974 in a limited pressing on the very small Cycle label. This unique blend of ethnic-electronic rock, spiced with esotericism, is in high demand not only among lovers of world music, which became a trend in the 1980s.
