Aunt Mary, one of Norway’s best prog bands was founded in Fredrikstad in 1970. They recorded and released their self-titled debut album by Polydor Records in Denmark the same year. The line-up consisted of Bjoern Christiansen (g, voc), Per Ivar Fure (fl, harm, sax, voc), Jan Leonard Groth (keyb, g, voc), Svein Gundersen (b, p, voc) and Kjetil Stensvik (dr, voc). They played hard rock mixed with heavy psych tunes and combined with clear influences from the symphonic genre.
After putting out Loaded in 1972 and Janus in 1973, they sadly disbanded shortly after. Today a sought-after album, especially as a German original because of the most brilliant sound.
