The progressive heavy rock band Asoka, from Malmö, Sweden, consisted of Claes Ericsson (p, org, vn) and Patrik Erixson (voc, perc) from the band Taste of Blues, the Bengtson brothers Tjobbe (b) and Daffy (dr) and guitarist Robban Larson. In 1971, the same year they were founded, they signed a record deal with Sonet and recorded their self-titled album, produced by Bo Winberg of The Spotnicks. With their powerful and driving rock with excellent guitar and an energetic rhythm section, they were marketed as the third driving force for Swedish hard rock alongside November and Made In Sweden. They also incorporated progressive elements in the form of quiet, sometimes psychedelic passages with lots of piano, organ, violin, flute and jazzy flair.
The band split up soon afterwards, leaving only this one album, which is not only one of the most sought-after, but also one of the most expensive Swedish heavy rock albums as an original pressing by Sonet.
