Alkana was a short-lived band formed in San Bernardino, California in the mid-70s. Its members were Danney Alkana (g), Jack Rucker (voc, p, g), Craig Williams (b) and Donny McLaughlin (dr). They recorded their first and only album in 1978 at Audiotronics Studios in nearby West Covina, which they released that same year as a private pressing on their own Baby Bird label. They played progressive, partly symphonic hard rock, psychedelic-tinged heavy metal and pompous epic proto-metal. With the powerful lead guitar from Californian guitar god Danney Alkana and the outstanding vocals of later Warlord singer Jack Rucker (aka Damien King), this band became an underground cult, and their only LP is one of those legendary and rare heavy rock albums that is sought after worldwide.
