Alkana was a short-lived American hard rock band formed in San Bernardino, California, in the mid-1970s. Its members were lead guitarist and singer Danney Alkana, lead singer, pianist and guitarist Jack Rucker, bassist and singer Craig Williams, and drummer and singer Donny McLaughlin. They recorded their debut album Welcome To My Paradise in 1978 at Audiotronics Recording Studios in nearby West Covina. It was released by the band themselves that same year as a private pressing on their own label, Baby Bird, in a limited edition of just a few hundred copies. Their sound ranged from progressive, at times symphonic hard rock and psychedelic-tinged heavy metal to grandiose, epic proto-metal.

With the songwriting skills and spectacular lead guitar of Californian guitar god Danney Alkana, and the outstanding vocals of Jack Rucker (aka Damien King), who would later become the lead singer of Warlord, they were years ahead of their time. This style of high-pitched vocals paired with streamlined lead guitar was soon to take the mainstream hard rock world by storm. However, their first and only release went completely unnoticed, leading the group to split up shortly afterwards. Over time, the band became an underground cult favourite and their sole LP one of those legendary and extremely rare heavy rock albums that is sought after worldwide.
