AK Musick was a German five-piece collective assembled by Hans Kumpf, all with classical education. Their radical and experimental music with hints of free-jazz was ambitious and innovative, way ahead of its time. Even the small private edition of 150 copies of their eponymous album in 1972 wasn’t sold. Although it was recorded at the famous Tonstudio Bauer in Ludwigsburg in just three hours and engineered by ECM recording engineer Martin Wieland. It was released as the first LP on Hans Kumpf’s legendary AKM Records label. Housed in home-made spray printed covers this rare Kraut artefact is really very hard to find now and not cheap.
